soopadoopa.

Beenaweewhile.

I haven't written anything for a while....for no particular reason actually other than I haven't really been bothered or compelled to.
Back to uni on wednesday, so the holiday since coming back from China is quickly drawing to a close. China seems like a bit of a blur, and has been an excellent illustration of how fast life can pass by.

Summer holidays = Good.

Past month I havent really trained much, if at all. Something has changed since before when i used to only think about training. I started getting back into drawing and painting very suddenly, shortly after the drawing session that was had at Soul Survivor. So been doing that a lot to be honest. In terms of me as person, I think I have changed quite a bit. Things have fallen into perspective a little, for me in regards to my life anyway. I feel like something inside me, the obsessive nature that used to drive me to think about and train parkour/movement/whatever everyday, has died. Its actually weird because it has taken place over the past month and is actually quite a huge change. I just feel like parkour and movement has been moved from being the only thing in my vision, to something at the side in balance with everything else. Its still very important to me to move and be healthy, but I do not feel the same internal pressure or obsession to excel at it, but instead to enjoy it and just use all forms of movement to stay strong and able. Being a Christian has changed me the most since now all i want to do (although i fail often) is be in God's will for my life, so thats my main focus, which I am still having to work on. So basically parkour/movement has taken a more, what i think for me, balanced place in my life and I feel more open to everything else.

One recent venture is Mangoshoguns, which has been set up with my good friend Mat. Basically we are trying to get opportunities to do spray paint commissions for whoever, and have just today finished painting a company's van, which was pretty stressful!
Anyway, check out the website by clicking the tag below and give us a holla if you want anything done!

hope everyone is well, always good to here from peeps so give us a shout,

j

  1. Hey Jin!
Cool - check your email, dude. I checked out your website - I LOVE street and graffiti art and you guys definitely have a gifting in that, so sooooooo excited you are nurturing it. Me too seem less obsessive and more balanced on physical activity and other things since becoming a christian. Funny that.... definitely not a coincidence for me. I have grown so much in the past year since committing myself to Christ, it's amazing (albeit, never an "easy ride" like people might think....!!) Definitely the best thing in my life, and like you - I feel strong commitment to go God's work and His will for my life more and more. So, great to hear a fellow brother in Christ feeling same way...:-)

By the way, that van commission you and mat did is "way cool!" ...absolutely love it!! I saw another graffiti painted can driving past me today at lunchtime around town and got me wondering whether you guys has anything to do with that too...haha...:-) Peace bro'... love hearing your news and hope return to uni is feeled with renewed vigour and a season of more and more great things, Rach x

  2. Awesome man great to see your web presence looming once more. I just moved to Manchester for uni. Only been here a couple of days but it's been wicked so far and my flatmates are the soundest set of people.

I'll be training with the Manchester guys from now on which will be excellent, they're all great guys and fun to train with. They all have the right mindset. The Sheffield scene's been sweet over the last 2 months which is great and I was sad to leave it (and them) behind. It's a shame how the scene tailed off this year but I think it's back to its former glory with a brilliant spectrum of different skills and styles of movement.

I hope to see you over there some time when I return for a day or whatever. I'll drop you a line when I'm heading over. Is your number the same as before China? If not text me your new one (my number's in the sidebar on my site).

    Come to Manchester also.

  5. Mate, I think you're on the same kind of wavelength that DC and myself are on (abeit for different reasons individually).

I have had the same shift in perspective in terms of training and general lifestyle - don't see it as a negative thing, embrace it as your training becomes more instinctive and natural (and enjoyable), and focus on other areas of your life you may have neglected, or not realised the importance of.

Without wanting to sound too pompous, I think this change marks a certain 'growing up' period where more important things than just the physical side of life - other issues, whatever they may be, take precedence, and you begin to truly adapt your mental and physical abilities to more abstract obstacles.

    Peace

    Nick

  7. A lot of people have been going through what you have, myself included as you'll read in ym new blog, but you've put it much more eloquently.

I am still training and pushing through with Parkour although definatly I feel it's been given more balanced place in my life as I've developed and working out what I need to do in life.

Be in touch mate! Would love to hear an email from you soon.
